Beat structure or arrangement is so important and critical to hip hop beat production, because it allows the listener to either have a good experience or a not so good one.
The basic Structure of a hip-hop beat is INTRO-HOOK-VERSE-HOOK-VERSE-HOOK-OUTRO. The intro or verse is the most important part of the beat, because it’s the most memorable part of any hip hop song.
The introduction is usually at a much lower volume than other parts of the track and should be catchy. The hook is what would typically be sung over a chorus in a typical pop song, and it’s less important than the intro.
The second verse, third verse, and so on are less important because they don’t have an introduction or chorus to hold onto. The outro is an important part because it allows the listener to leave the song with a particular feeling.
A hip hop beat should always be composed of drums, bass, and a sampled/looped vocal sample. The genre would not be complete without these three elements.
The beat can also have other instruments such as pianos or synthesizers added in certain parts.
